Bike Shoe Details



I've received many requests to clarify how I mounted
my ATK bike shoe so that it is easily removable.  
I'll try and explain the details here
and include some more
detailed pictures..

   
Materials.     
      3  Carriage bolts
   3  Flat washers
     3  Lock washers
3  Wing-nuts

Here is a close-up of the attachment hardware used on the ATK bike shoe.  I inserted the carriage bolt through the mounting hole in the ATK bike shoe.  I then put on the flat washer, the lock washer, and the wing-nut.  I had to grind a little on the carraige bolt to get it to fit correctly into the Pingel quick-release mounts.  Now you can install the bike shoe and tighten down the wing-nuts.  When you want to remove the bike shoe, you simply loosen the wing-nuts and pop it right out.  

Here's is a close-up view of the Pingel quick-release mount.  You simply stick the end of the carraige bolt into the wider end of the opening and slide it forward into the tighter end.
